As of January 1, 2016 the CTT will no longer support Roadsoft, Laptop Data Collector (LDC), or MERL on Windows XP or SQL Server 2005 due to product support termination by Microsoft. A Roadsoft RoundUp article was published in June detailing this transition.
The MERL Manual has been redesigned in Responsive HTML5 to be more usable on tablets and smart phones. The size and layout of the manual will now change depending on whether the manual is being viewed on a PC, tablet or smart phone.

MERL Mobile 1.0.1 Update Available

With the release of MERL 5.3.0, the Center for Technology & Training proudly announces its first mobile application for MERL, Local Job Manager Mobile. This mobile app brings desktop functionality into the field. Principal Programmer, Nick Koszykowski, explained that since this work is typically done outside of the office “creating a mobile app was the next logical step”.

What:
Effective October 20, 2014, MERL users who submit project estimates to MDOT Local Agency Programs for jobs run through the MDOT Bid Letting process should upgrade to at MERL version 5.2.5 (or newer).
Why:
On October 20, 2014, MDOT will be replacing their client/server based LAS/PES* system with a web based system called Web Trns*port Preconstruction. MERL 5.2.5 and newer versions support a new export for Trns*port: XML format.
